There is a lot of hurt in this world. Part of what I love about art is having the ability to potentially ease some of that hurt. This character I designed is the offspring of two other characters of mine. She is biracial which, for some reason, can be cause for hate. She has a skin condition called vitiligo. This loss of skin pigmentation carries no health problems aside from the psychological–feeling depressed about the way you look because of the way others treat you. That hurts my heart. Maybe this will never help anyone, but if somehow seeing a character similar to yourself living a strong, fulfilling life helps you, I’ve had a part in something meaningful. #illustration #conceptart #characterdesign #digitalart #artheals #biracial #vitiligo #loveoneanother #tallgirlproblems #girlsinarmor

Fastag is an extremely cuddly sleeper--much to the dismay of his tent-mates throughout the years. I imagine this is something Aura begrudgingly learns to live with after they get married. Though this is one of Fastag’s less suffocating holds, I’m sure he has his legs clamped around her like a vice.

Speed Paint: Freckly Man

Using techniques similar to the last freckle painting, I decided to be a bit more intentional. So here’s a freckly man! Done in about 30 minutes.

Character Design: Mr. Brian

Mr. Brian, another character design I found. He exists in the same world as Harriet & Hayward Fox and is based on my high school art teacher whom I miss immensely. I first created Harriet & Hayward in his class. I started college kickin’ butt and takin’ names which I owe almost completely to him. Wish I could share with him in person the artist he’s created in me. Anyway, as seen on the right, Mr. Brian loves clay, just like the real one. :0)

Character Designs: Lanthe & Drisdae

Found these two initial character designs. Lanthe is an aloof, proud, and cold sad-sack of human being. He’s the commander of a division of archers. Then there’s Drisdae who is a horribly deplorable woman. Mistress to a king, she thinks seduction can get her anything she wants. She’s wrong ‘cause everyone hates her. :T

Character Design: Miguel

And the offspring: Miguel Dimas, Spanish heartthrob and lifeguard. He wears his lifeguard uniform (with or without shirt) almost exclusively since he thinks it helps him pick up girls. He’s not wrong. He dresses a bit nicer when he has to help out at La Hierba. Just a front view for now.

Character/Building Design: Mr. & Mrs. Dimas/La Hierba

Miguel Dimas, Sr. and Carlotta Dimas, owners of La Hierba, a boardwalk restaurant in Santa Cruz. This is where the boys spend a lot of their hangout time. I needed to get some sort of idea of what this place would look like, especially in three dimensions. So I did the only logical thing and made a floor plan/3D model... In other news, Sweet Home 3D is a very helpful program. :D
